Rock Band, well, rocks!!!

We travelled to both sets of relatives over Thanksgiving, and everything went very well- lots of good food and company. When we made it to the AKO’s uncle’s after dinner time, everyone was downstairs, and we heard what we thought was karaoke going on as we walked in the door. Turns out that it was Rock Band instead. This was the same group that introduced The Dude to Guitar Hero, so there isn’t any real surprise that they had the game- what was a surprise was how much fun it was. For those who aren’t familiar with the game, it’s like Guitar Hero, with the addition of a microphone, bass guitar, and drum set. By the time we’d arrived, some of the parents with younger (tween) kids had left, so it was basically a bunch of 20, 30, and 40 year olds jamming out to such songs as Bon Jovi’s “Dead or Alive”, Soundgarden’s “Black Hole Sun”, and Ok Go’s “Here it goes again”. The Dude participated as the singer on a couple songs, and just named the ones that he actually could sing– there were some other newer bands that although he recognized the song once it started, just didn’t feel comfortable trying to sing (even though it’s very much like Karaoke in that the words are provided). This was in part to the fact that they were in the middle of a band world tour, and The Dude didn’t want to risk their score. 🙂 In any case, highly recommended.
