The Dude was having a conversation with his co-workers about one of those most controversial of geek topics: Kirk, Picard, or other (and you won’t be able to convince anyone to expand that list either). Upon completion of that most heated discussion (and don’t ask where The Dude stands on that argument), the conversation moved on to Star Trek: Remastered vs. the original release. For those who aren’t aware, Star Trek: Remastered is the original series from the 60s, using 00s (double-aught?) era special effects (mainly for the space stuff, but other things sneak in there). After catching “Amok Time” on Spike or whatever channel it was playing on, The Dude thought about it a little bit, and came up with this observation: “At least Greedo didn’t shoot first.” Unlike the Star Wars Remixes, where George Lucas changed characterization and some (minor) plot elements as part of his effort to redo the special effects from the original trilogy, Star Trek: Remastered does it right- no bloody A, B, C, or D. So, where do you stand? Star Wars, Star Trek? Kirk, Picard, or other? Inquiring minds want to know. 100 Quatloos to the first person to correctly identify the origin (title and artist) of the 80s song lyrics quoted on the title line without looking it up (ie. cheating).
